The Peyote ceremony is held by Marakame Juan and Curandera Chandra Devi Ma (Prana Foundation), who travel to Europe once a year to offer this medicine.

Ayahuasca Ceremonies

Deep cleansing nights in a structured Western container — 2 ceremonies (8-day) or 1 ceremony (5-day), held for clarity, safety, and integration.

Rest & Integration Days

Space to regulate, reflect, sleep, and let insights settle into the body instead of chasing the next peak.

Peyote Night (1 ceremony)

A once-a-year offering with Marakame Juan & Curandera Chandra Devi Ma (Prana Foundation). Both formats include this ceremony.

Optional: Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) & Kambo

Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) and Kambo available by screening and fit — only if it truly supports your path.

Because peyote is rare and slow-growing, we do not use it casually. In our regular work we choose San Pedro (faster-growing and more sustainable). When peyote is brought to us and offered in ceremony, we hold it with deep respect, careful preparation, and an integration framework designed to protect the meaning of the work.

Facilitated sharing circle — trauma-informed, small-group environment in Europe

Who this is for

For professionals and thoughtful individuals seeking a safe Ayahuasca and Peyote retreat in Europe — people who have done well outwardly but feel something essential is missing. You may be navigating burnout, a sense of meaninglessness, or a transition that logic alone can't resolve. You want depth and professionalism, not guru culture or chaos.

  • Small groups (max 8) with high facilitator contact and individual attention.
  • Consent-led paths: every ceremony is optional, integration is guaranteed.
  • Structure, follow-up, and practical tools for real-life change.
  • A 5-day format available if you can't take a full week — just 4 nights, same depth.

Why choose this retreat

Unlike jungle retreats — where you face mosquitos, unfamiliar food, and language barriers — our retreats offer modern safety, comfort, and clarity in Europe. The medicine is the same, but the environment is designed so your nervous system can focus entirely on the work.

  • Western environment: safe venues, healthcare access, no jungle stressors.
  • Trauma-informed team: English- and German-speaking, professional facilitators.
  • Legally aligned: Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Peyote, Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) — always consent-led.
  • Comprehensive support: preparation calls before and integration calls after every retreat.
  • AI-powered integration app: continue the work after you leave with reflection prompts, micro-practices, and nervous-system regulation tools through our BioPsyche Renewal Protocol app.
  • Less travel: Faro Airport is easily reachable from across Europe and beyond — save time, money, and jet lag.

This is a once-a-year gathering held in a small, respectful container (max 8 guests) in Portugal. Hosted by Vine of the Soul Retreats, the retreat culminates in a single Peyote night held with Marakame Juan and Curandera Devi Chandra Ma (Prana Foundation). Chandra is based in Portugal and joins as a close collaborator; Marakame Juan travels to Europe specifically to bring and guide the Peyote ceremony.

Marakame Juan (Don Juan Ortiz)

Wirrarika Marakame • Primer Cantor • Hikuri / Peyote

A Wirrarika (Huichol) traditional healer from Jalisco, Mexico, and the First Chant Leader (Primer Cantor) of his community. With 35+ years walking the Blue Deer Medicine (Hikuri / Peyote), he leads the traditional Wirikuta Deer Hunt pilgrimage and is among the few permitted to perform sacred living offerings — ceremonies devoted to honoring the elemental forces and restoring balance for all life.

What Makes This Retreat Different

We don't sell "a miracle night." We build the conditions for real change: screening that protects you, a paced ceremonial arc, and integration that continues after you leave. This is a premium, trauma-informed pathway in the Algarve, Portugal — designed so deep experiences become stable life change, not just a peak memory.

Screening & clarity

Depth from the first conversation

Before you arrive, we map the essentials: your intention, contraindications, protectors, and nervous-system patterns. You'll know what you're working with — and what support you'll need — before you step into ceremony.

Paced retreat arc

Ayahuasca + rest days + Peyote

The 8-day format includes two Ayahuasca ceremonies separated by rest & integration days, building toward the Peyote night. The 5-day format offers one Ayahuasca ceremony plus the Peyote night in a focused, high-impact arc. Both are paced so insights can land — we don't stack intensity for the sake of drama.

Rare lineage event

The Peyote night is a once-a-year offering

The retreat culminates in a single Peyote ceremony night guided by Marakame Juan together with Curandera Devi Chandra Ma (Prana Foundation). Chandra is based in Portugal and joins as a close collaborator; Marakame Juan travels to Europe specifically to bring and guide this ceremony.

Optional support

Kambo & Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) by screening

On the free days, Kambo and Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) may be available by screening and readiness. Optional means optional: we only include what genuinely supports your intention and nervous-system capacity.

Continuity of care

Integration that continues after you leave

The container doesn't end at checkout. You'll have structured circles during the retreat, and follow-up support after — including access to our AI-powered integration app (BioPsyche Renewal Protocol) for reflection prompts, micro-practices, and practical grounding.

Clean environment

Algarve venue, low noise, high care

A calm, beautiful setting near Faro Airport, small cohorts (max 8), clear communication, and a team focused on care — so the work stays about your healing, not logistics, overwhelm, or "jungle stress."

A glimpse of the work (composite): A guest arrives feeling "open" after Ayahuasca — and then crashes into fatigue, doubt, and emotional waves on the rest days. Instead of pushing more intensity, we normalize the nervous-system rebound, guide simple practices, and use the space to integrate what surfaced. By the time the Peyote night arrives, the guest feels grounded enough to receive meaning, not just sensation. Not magic; method.

Frequently Asked Questions — Peyote & Ayahuasca Retreat Europe

Most ayahuasca retreats in Europe offer only ayahuasca ceremonies. This retreat combines ayahuasca with a traditional Peyote (Hikuri) ceremony led by a Wirrarika Marakame — something available in Europe only once a year. It's structured as a full ceremonial arc with built-in rest and integration days, not a quick ceremony hop. Optional Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) and Kambo are also available by screening.
Both formats include the Peyote ceremony with Marakame Juan and full integration support. The 8-day format (May 1–8) includes 2 Ayahuasca ceremonies, 3 integration days, and the Peyote night — the complete ceremonial arc. The 5-day format (May 4–8) is a focused immersion: 1 Ayahuasca ceremony + the Peyote night, with optional Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) available. The 5-day is ideal if you can't take a full week off — it's just 4 nights, designed for working professionals.
The retreat is hosted by Vine of the Soul Retreats in Portugal. The Peyote ceremony is guided by Marakame Juan (Don Juan Ortiz), a Wirrarika (Huichol) traditional healer with 35+ years of experience, together with Curandera Devi Chandra Ma (Prana Foundation). A Marakame is a traditional Wirrarika shaman and ceremonial leader — Marakame Juan travels to Europe once a year to offer this medicine.
No. We work consent-led. The retreat includes a defined program and ceremonial space, but participation in any medicine — ayahuasca, peyote, Bufo (5-MeO-DMT), or Kambo — is always optional and confirmed through screening and readiness. You will never be pressured to participate.
Portugal decriminalized personal use of all substances in 2001. Our retreats operate within this decriminalized framework in private, invitation-only settings. We prioritize legal alignment, safety, and discretion in everything we do. For a full overview, see our Ethics, Safety & Legality page.
Bufo (5-MeO-DMT) is a powerful, short-acting psychedelic derived from the Bufo alvarius toad. It's available as an optional add-on on the integration days (€380), offered only after screening confirms it's appropriate for you. It's not part of the core program — we include it only when it genuinely supports your path and nervous-system readiness.
All guests complete a medical and psychological screening, plus a preparation call before arrival. During the retreat you have daily sharing circles and 1:1 support. After the retreat you receive one group integration call and one private 1:1 integration call (within 2 months), plus ongoing access to our AI-powered integration app based on the BioPsyche Renewal Protocol.
The venue is about 35 minutes from Faro Airport (FAO), which has direct flights from most European cities. You can also fly into Lisbon (LIS) and take the train or FlixBus to Albufeira (~2.5 hours). Exact venue details are shared privately with confirmed guests about 2 weeks before the retreat. Private transfers are available on request.
Both are mescaline-containing cacti, but they come from different traditions and have different ecological profiles. Peyote (Lophophora williamsii) is small, slow-growing, and central to Wirrarika (Huichol) tradition — we use it only when offered in ceremony by a traditional Marakame. San Pedro (Echinopsis pachanoi) grows much faster and is more sustainable, which is why we use it in our regular retreats. When peyote is brought to us, we hold it with deep respect for its rarity and cultural significance.
